Welcome to Sagittarius season. The shift from the transformative, intense deep waters of Scorpio month to the expansive, spirited extroversion of Sagittarius season, is noticeable. Sagittarius is mutable fire, binding one season to another, from autumn to winter here in the northern hemisphere.
Sagittarius disseminates knowledge, ideas and connections. They infuse others with spirit, through sharing light, truth and visions others and sparking our desire for broader perspectives and wider connections. We all have Sagittarius somewhere in our charts, that will be illuminated by the new moon and from the transits of Jupiter in his home sign of Sagittarius, all year.

The traditional Jupiterian archetype is of a teacher, a wise person, shaman or yogi, who assists in the achievement of joy, faith and meaning in life. Education, in the real sense of the word is enlightenment through eliminating darkness and ignorance. What is knowledge and wisdom without humour or joy? To quote the Dalai Lama, ‘Choose to be optimistic, it feels better.’

This New Moon in Sagittarius on 26th november sparks our spirit of adventure and ignites our faith in goals, growth and expansion. New Moons are times to set intentions that we wish to manifest in our life.

I experienced beautiful serendipity on the moment of the New Moon….an owl started crying outside my window. An unusual occurrence to take place during daylight hours. Interestingly, the New Moon is conjunct Pallas Athene, whose symbol is an owl.

The New Moon coincides with Neptune stationing to direct. Neptune is the planet of dreams, imagination, illusions, inspiration and unity. On 28th November, after 5 months of moving backwards, Neptune moves forwards once more. The yarn of wool wrapped around our eyes is slowly unravelling and we may be amazed at the revelations that accompany this. The fog is lifting, clarity is returning and dreams are easier to recall on waking. Note any unusual, lucid or surreal dreams in the last few days. Neptune stationing direct accompanies deeper access into the mind of the collective unconscious and other realms.

Jupiter, Sagittarius’ ruling planet is in a powerful dialogue in the new Moon chart, with Venus, (values), South Node (endings), Saturn (commitment and Pluto (transformation). There is a letting go of a heavy, unnecessary load and at the same time an ability to face reality head on. The reality of something can set you free and give you wings. What responsibilities are needed and what are ready to be released? What burdens can you offload in order to feel more freedoms and get a wider perspective. Opportunities to ground a vision. Sagittarius can be excessive and out of proportion, while the Capricorn stellium conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius helps to trim the fat. On 2nd December, after a year’s stay in Sagittarius, Jupiter moves into Capricorn. Both signs are lovers of truth and wisdom, though Capricorn has a staying power and discernment that sees something through to the end that was not completed while in Sagittarius.
