Virgo New Moon 2026 New Season, New Beginnings Astrological Weather Insights for all signs.
The Sun is now in dutiful Virgo, marking the last phase of summer and the beginning of autumn here in the northern hemisphere. It’s back-to-school and back-to-work time, now that the dog days are over.
Virgo is traditionally associated with the goddess of the harvest, bringing in a fruitful harvest. In a similar way, this is our time to focus on what needs preparing in our lives for the coming winter months.
This New Moon is the time to make a wish and set intentions relating to the fulfilment of duties and responsibilities. Pay particular attention to the details and seed new routines.
This is a perfect New Moon for breaking out of habits or old routines and creating healthier ones that nourish the mind, body and soul. It’s a great time for cleansing and detoxing on all levels — inner and outer housekeeping.
Virgo rules digestion and gut health. Digestive issues can come up at this time, and stomachs can be extra sensitive, drawing our attention to improvements we can make to our diets.
This is also a perfect New Moon for journaling and vision boards.
Freedom Within Structures
Although the Sun is no longer in sunny Leo, the Leoine party vibe, infused with fun and creativity, is still around, with Jupiter residing in Leo.
The Jupiter-Saturn trine has been active since August and continues to flow until July 2027. At this New Moon, consider the themes of the Jupiter-Saturn trine:
- Freedom within structures
- Practical and realistic visions
- Future horizons
- Expanded ambitions
- Making the most of what is there
- Test of faith
- Cautious optimism
- Calculated risks
- Quest for meaning, beliefs and purpose in life
- Balance between leaps of faith and small steps forward
Changing Structures and Relationship Patterns
There are some highly charged planetary dances between the relationship planets Venus and Mars, and Saturn and Pluto, forecasting a change in structures and relationship patterns.
Mars, planet of drive, and Saturn, planet of structures, bring a new cycle of direction: of harnessing our energy purposefully and asserting ourselves on a soul level, driven by emotional intelligence and our sense of duty.
With oceanic Neptune and logical Mercury in this lunar mix, we are reminded not to get bogged down in detail and the smaller parts; rather, bring our dreams and imagination into the tangible and go with the flow.
Mercury at 0° Libra: The Threshold
Mercury at the potent 0 degrees in Libra, at the significant 0 degrees symbolising the circle that completes itself, is a threshold — a void between the end and the beginning, a potent space for the gestation and manifestation of dreams.
Mercury is the ruling planet of this lunation. It is about mental patterns and mindsets: do they incorporate enough peace, harmony and virtue?
Uranus, the pattern interrupter, assists us in rewriting and updating old scripts, and daring to think outside the box — to be original and bold.
Thinking of the other, the power of compromise, holding back from saying something that could be unkind towards ourselves and others.
Now in Libra, it is the art of symmetry and harmony in thought and words, with an insistence on carefully weighing ideas before coming to a balanced decision. Objectivity and taking others’ views.

New Moon Rituals
I am a professional aromatherapist and love to combine astrology with essential oils.
The essential oils that have a rejuvenating, healing effect on Virgo are Cedarwood, Peppermint and Fennel.
Cedarwood: Calm the Chattering Mind
Mercurial Virgos tend to live in their heads, and can benefit greatly from some mentally detoxing time, when they can calm that chattering mind of theirs.
Vaporize some drops of Cedarwood as an incense for meditation or yoga. It will help to clear your head and deepen your breath. It is an ancient oil, though still used today as a temple incense in Tibetan monasteries.
Cedarwood is a great choice for Virgo season. It calms the chattering mind and is perfect for meditation.
Peppermint: Digestion and Revival
Peppermint is a classic stomach remedy. Add a few drops into your footbath, mix a few drops into your massage oil and apply to your solar plexus and feet.
Virgo rules the abdomen, this is the sensitive area of their body, where stress and worry manifests for Virgo, in the form of delicate digestion and sensitivity to certain foods.
Peppermint is a great pick-me-up and aphrodisiac too.
Sweet Fennel: Restorative and Balancing
Sweet Fennel is a Mercurial herb ruled by Virgo. It has a restorative, balancing effect on Virgos, mentally, emotionally and physically.
It has diuretic effects and has been used for slimming since the 16th century.
Add 5 drops to your massage base oil for a reviving, cleansing massage. Or add 5 to 10 drops to your bath, for a mentally enlivening, refreshing morning bath or shower.
